How To Disable A Car Alarm
There are very many reasons that might make your car alarm not shut properly and therefore end up embarrassing you. You should therefore have the knowhow to disable a car alarm so as to save you the trouble. Here is a quick guideline.
You should read your own user manual. This enables you to know what should exactly shut off your alarm and therefore save you from the trouble of try and error and also to quickly complete the entire process. The manual may also contain tips of how to disable the alarm in case it cannot go off.
If you have a key fob, it should be able to do the job for you. You should therefore ensure that the batteries are properly working. You can however tell if the batteries are working properly if you have to press the lock or unlock button more than once to respond to the command.
If that does not work, you may now decide to go the manual way and open the driver’s door with your key. This method should definitely shut off almost all alarms. If the driver’s door is already open then be sure that this method will not work. You can however try locking the door and opening it manually and see if it works.
You can also start your car and the alarm will go off automatically. This is because most of the alarm factories immediately turn off in cases of car ignition. You may opt to use this method if your driver’s door is already open. This may also help to reduce suspicion of car theft or attempts.
You may also opt to find the fuse that connects the alarm to the car batteries. This however requires some little car knowledge on its systems. In most of the cars whose alarms are installed in the factory, the alarm fuses are located on the left side of your steering column or even in the fuse box that is in your steering column. However there are alarm fuses that are located in the engine compartment and this is mostly for after-market installed alarms. With the presence of the user manual, you will easily have the location of the alarm fuse
Once you locate the fuse, you should pull it using needle-nose pliers and you will be able to know if it actually works as the alarm should immediately go off. This is because there are quite a number of fuses in the car. If the one that you have pulled doesn’t work, you should insert it in its right place before trying another.
If you are still finding it difficult to put off the alarm system, you can disconnect the negative battery terminal as it shuts down the entire car electrical system. With this, you should also know that your car will not be able to move.
After letting the negative terminal be disconnected for a minute, you can put it back and in case the alarm is still on, disconnect completely and call for technical assistance, making this an important piece for car safety!
